In the Netherlands, you are allowed to work from the age of 13, but there are strict rules and restrictions. Children aged 13 and 14 may only perform light work, such as babysitting or delivering newspapers, and can work a maximum of 12 hours per week during school weeks and 35 hours per week during holidays.
From the age of 15, you can work more hours and also take on heavier work, but there are still limitations. It is important that school always comes first and that your work is not harmful to your health or development.
At 16, you can do almost all types of work, with the exception of dangerous work. At 18, you are completely free to work without restrictions.
