The Eiffel Tower was designed by the French engineer Gustave Eiffel and his company. The design was created by Maurice Koechlin and Émile Nouguier, two engineers who worked for Eiffel, and the architect Stephen Sauvestre also contributed to the design. The tower was built for the 1889 World's Fair in Paris to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the French Revolution.
